The Moments That Made BMU Home
If someone had told me three years ago that a place could feel like home, even when it wasn’t, I wouldn’t have believed them. But here I am, in my third year at BML Munjal University, and this campus has become so much more than just a place where I study. It’s where I’ve laughed, stressed over deadlines, found friendships that feel like family, and made memories that I know will stay with me long after I leave.
Life here isn’t perfect, but that’s what makes it real. There are days when back-to-back classes feel never-ending, submissions pile up, and group projects test your patience more than your skills. But then, there are also days when those simple midnight catch-ups at food joints here turn into an hour of laughter, when a last-minute plan for a late-night walk leads to deep conversations about life, and when an ordinary moment suddenly becomes a core memory.
I’ve learned that happiness at BMU isn’t just about the big achievements; those internships, letters of recommendation, student body positions, club positions – it’s also in the little things. Happiness is also in rushing to class half-asleep but waking up when you see your friends. It’s in dancing like no one’s watching during campus events or celebrating a friend’s birthday at midnight with whatever snacks you can find.
Some of my favourite moments are the unplanned ones—when you’re just sitting on the lawn under the sun in the daytime, those rainy days here. Or the nights before exams when the entire hostel suddenly turns into a help center, with people explaining concepts to each other in ways professors never could. Or even walking back to the hostel after a long day, headphones in, lost in your world.
It is also about how I have grown here – from being the Gaurangi who won’t like to interact at all to the one who gained the confidence to host various events at the university attended by hundreds of people. This place has shaped me into a better version of myself.
Of course, it’s not always easy. There are times when homesickness hits, things don’t go as planned, and the future feels overwhelming. But somehow, this place, these people, make it better. A friend dragging you out for a break, a senior giving you advice when you least expect it, or even the comfort of knowing you’re not alone in whatever you’re feeling—it all adds up.
BMU has given me so much more than just an education. It’s given me friendships that I know will last a lifetime, experiences that have shaped me, and a million little moments of happiness that I wouldn’t trade for anything. As I move closer to my final year, I’m just trying to soak it all in, knowing that someday, I’ll miss even the things I once complained about.
Because, at the end of the day, it’s not just about the degree. It’s about the memories I cherish here, the late-night walks, the friendships, and the stories that make this journey truly ours.
