Swati Munjal
President, BML Munjal University
Swati Munjal has vast professional experience in fields ranging from financial restructuring consultancy to the high-technology products business. However, it’s the challenges of instating quality higher education in India that Ms. Munjal finds most fulfilling. As the President of BML Munjal University, she enjoys interacting with young minds, learning more about their hopes and ambitions, and identifying deserving talent for opportunities beyond their financial grasp.
She has a B.Com degree from Lady Shri Ram College, where she was also active culturally. She got her MBA in ‘Strategic Brand Management’ from Cornell University, USA. In business school, she was the President of Cornell’s ‘South Asia Business Club’. Ms. Munjal has worked with a prestigious consulting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which took her travelling all over India, specifically Kerala and the South.
She returned to Delhi to work for her family’s business, Samtel. She was instrumental in turning around a KPO within the 30-year-old business and was involved in its profitable sell-out. Having observed her parental family’s philanthropic involvement in K-12 education in Bhiwadi and Greater Noida, she realised she had the inclination and experience to be involved in the Munjal-family-led higher education initiative. She began by overseeing admission-related activity at BMU, which was in its nascent stages.
Her interest in Indian classical music and dance prompted her to learn Kathak at an early age. She refined this talent to the level of a professional performer. Though she is not actively involved in performing anymore, Munjal advocates for students pursuing extra-curricular interests for all-round development. She is also a member of the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO).
