Prof. Harekrishna Misra, holds PhD in Information Systems. He has more than 40 years of experience, beginning his career with the Indian Railways. He worked in the areas of industrial automation and controls, and enterprise information systems for 15 years. He has around 25 years of experience in academics. He superannuated from the Institute of Rural Management, as Professor in IT & Systems area. During his tenure at IRMA, he was the Chair Professor – Verghese Kurien Centre of Excellence, Dean-Faculty Induction and Development and Chair-IT & Systems. He has widely published refereed Journals and also is in the Editorial Boards of two International Journals. He was the Chairperson of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Entrepreneurship Board of the DST, GoI. He is currently the member in the Governing Council of National Council of Cooperative Training (NCCT), Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation, GoI. He was member of the expert committee to draft National Cooperation Policy, GoI. He currently works closely with the United Nation University, Portugal on Measuring “Global Rural E-Governance Readiness” with focus on local on-line services (LOSI) in rural areas. He also is a member in the Board of Governors, Sahaj Retail Limited, Kolkata, India, dealing with e-governance supported digital services in rural areas in India. His current research interests include software engineering, database management, e-governance, ICT for Development, e-Business, Enterprise Value Chains.
