    at BMU

    Residence Life at BMU welcomes its students to a community of diverse and talented scholars residing in a close-knit and dynamic learning environment. The Residence Life Policy is dedicated to fostering a safe, comfortable, and vibrant residential experience for all students on campus.

    To ensure a civil and congenial participation in the campus residence life, students are expected to familiarize themselves and adhere to the University rules and Regulations. Any policy violation will result in disciplinary action, with the appropriate University committee determining the consequent course of action.

    The Residence Life team is committed to creating an inclusive and enriching living-learning community that supports students’ academic, personal, and professional growth. Through various programs, initiatives, and community-building efforts, the department strives to enhance the overall residential experience and foster a sense of belonging among the student population.

    Students are encouraged to actively engage with the Residence Life staff, participate in residential activities, and provide feedback to continuously improve the quality of campus living. The department welcomes open communication and is dedicated to addressing any concerns or issues that may arise within the residential community.

    Facilities

    BMU's vibrant residential community comprises six hostels located within the University campus, catering to a total capacity of approximately 2,000 students. The hostel accommodations are divided into two categories: Tower-style and Apartment-style, with four hostels for male students and two for female students.

    The student hostels include

    • Homi Bhabha Hostel (Apartment-style, 272 student capacity)
    • Vikram Sarabhai Hostel (Apartment-style, 272 student capacity)
    • Abdul Kalam Hostel (Apartment-style, 186 student capacity)
    • Bhagat Singh Hostel (Tower-style, 566 student capacity)

    Apartment-style Hostels

    • Gargi Hostel (Apartment-style, 272 student capacity)
    • Kalpana Chawla Hostel (Tower-style, 414 student capacity)

    The apartment-style hostels offer single, double, and triple occupancy room facilities, each with a common living space. Additionally, the apartments are equipped with a kitchen area for students, including a refrigerator and microwave oven.

    Tower-style Hostels

    The tower-style hostels feature single, double, and triple occupancy room configurations, with common areas and a shared pantry space on each floor, complete with microwave facilities.

    Recreational Facilities in Hotels

    All the hostels on the BMU campus provide students access to common rooms equipped with TV and various indoor recreational activities, such as table tennis, snooker tables, and in-house gymnasium facilities.

    Room Allocation

    At the beginning of the academic year, room allotment is made on a first-come, first-served basis. Students can select their preferred occupancy and room options through the Maitri platform, as per the building-level assignments approved by the University.

    Medical Facilities

    BMU has forged a distinguished partnership with HCL Healthcare, ensuring 24/7 access to MBBS physicians and a fully staffed Medical Room with male and female nurses. Our campus also maintains a fleet of ambulances to provide swift medical transport as needed, reflecting our unwavering commitment to the holistic well-being of our esteemed student body.

    The Counseling Team at BMU is dedicated to supporting our students' mental well-being and personal growth. Comprised of experienced professionals, this team provides empathetic guidance to help our scholars navigate the complex challenges they may face during their university journey.     Safety and Security

    BMU takes the security and well-being of its residential students very seriously. The University has implemented robust safety measures across all hostel facilities to ensure a secure living environment. Each hostel is staffed with 24/7 security guards who are responsible for monitoring the premises and addressing any concerns that may arise. Additionally, the university has installed CCTV cameras throughout the hostel buildings, which are under constant surveillance by a team of dedicated security personnel.

    BMU's residential community is served by two messes located within the hostel premises, with a combined capacity to cater to the dining needs of all students. These messes offer a diverse menu featuring both North Indian and South Indian cuisine, served throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The food service is maintained under strict hygiene protocols, with a dedicated mess staff ensuring the quality and variety of the meals provided.

    In addition to the two messes, BMU's vibrant residential community is further served by a centralized cafeteria offering diverse dining options. This cafeteria features catering to the varied culinary preferences of the students.
