No Poverty
BML Munjal University (BMU) is steadfast in its dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty, focusing on reducing financial barriers to education and empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds. The University places students at the core of its mission, ensuring equitable access to quality education and resources that foster academic success, personal growth, and community engagement.
Need-Based Scholarships
BMU provides extensive financial aid to students through its need-based scholarship program, with over 50% of students benefiting in recent years. The University’s Office of Financial Aid reviews individual cases meticulously, ensuring that deserving students receive the support they need to continue their education. This personalized approach reflects BMU’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity.
Empowering Female Students
The Hamari Pari Scholarship Scheme exemplifies BMU’s dedication to supporting underprivileged female students. Over the past five years, nearly 30 female students have received financial aid through this program, enabling them to pursue their academic dreams. This initiative not only promotes gender equality but also contributes to breaking the cycle of poverty for these students and their families.
Domicile-Based Scholarships
In alignment with statutory requirements and state government mandates, BMU offers scholarships to students based on their domicile. This initiative ensures that students from the local community have access to quality education, strengthening regional development and inclusivity.

Career Counseling and Empowerment
Beyond financial aid, BMU organizes a variety of career counseling activities throughout the year. These initiatives equip students with the skills, knowledge, and guidance needed to excel in their chosen fields, ensuring a transformative journey that extends beyond academics.
Community Outreach and Anti-Poverty Programs
BMU extends its commitment to SDG 1 through various student-led community outreach initiatives. The SAVERA Club, established in 2014 and now an NGO, provides education, co-curricular support, and overall development for children from economically weaker sections. The club also organizes food and clothing drives and literacy campaigns in nearby villages, positively impacting over 500 underprivileged children.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) units at BMU conduct activities aimed at personality development, leadership enhancement, and fostering civic responsibility among students. Notable initiatives include Daan Utsav in collaboration with NGO “Goonj” and village cleaning drives under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
In collaboration with the Raman Kant Munjal Foundation (RKMF), BMU engages in community development projects focusing on environmental conservation, women’s empowerment, vocational training, and adult literacy programs. Initiatives such as Hamari Asha, Asha Tutorial, and skill development workshops bring transformative changes to adopted villages, furthering the University’s commitment to sustainable development.
Holistic Approach to Poverty Alleviation
Through scholarships, career guidance, and impactful community programs, BMU addresses poverty on multiple fronts, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. By empowering individuals within and beyond its campus, BMU upholds its mission to create opportunities, reduce inequalities, and contribute meaningfully to societal progress.
